E-Force was formed in Montreal, Canada in 2001 by vocalist/bassist Eric Forrest, upon his departure from the legendary Canadian cyber-metallers Voivod. With Voivod, Forrest recorded two studio milestones – Negatron (1995) and Phobos (1997) – as well as the live album Voivod Lives and the compilation Kronik. When leaving Voivod, he chose his own nickname, “E-Force”, as the banner for his new band.

Labeled monsters of thrash, E-Force quickly stood out for Eric Forrest’s wide array of influences and feral vocal attack. Their debut Evil Forces (2003) earned strong critical acclaim, followed by Modified Poison (2008), which pushed the band’s intensity to new extremes. The Curse (2014, Mausoleum Records) introduced a dark concept revolving around obsession and temptation, while Demonikhol (2015, Mausoleum Records) delivered another concept, this time exploring the ravages of alcohol with a devastating mix of speed and heaviness.

In 2017 Forrest celebrated the 20th anniversary of Phobos by leading the project “Voivod Revisited”, revisiting the Negatron/Phobos era on a European tour, later appearing at major events such as Brutal Assault (CZ, 2018).

2021 saw the release of E-Force’s 5th studio album, Mindbender (Mighty Music), featuring the “Voivod Revisited” line-up (Patrick Friedrich – drums, Sébastien Chiffot – guitars). Mindbender stays true to the band’s trademark thrash ferocity while exploring new textures and ambiences, reconnecting to Forrest’s Voivod legacy.

Since then, E-Force has continued to expand its reach with appearances at international festivals including Basinfirefest 2025 (Czech Republic) and Chile Terror Fest 2025 (Santiago, Teatro Caupolicán). The band remains an unstoppable force live, with more than 250 shows across 20+ countries to date.

Looking ahead, E-Force is preparing a new project: a special “Best of Negatron/Phobos” release, paying tribute to the era that first defined Eric Forrest’s unmistakable mark on extreme metal.
